Bacardi has split the presidency responsibilities for one of its operating regions, resulting in the creation of a new senior position.
The group’s regional leadership line-up has been increased from three to four, with Ignacio Del Valle set to give up the European aspect of his responsibilities while retaining Latin America & Caribbean (LAC). Del Valle (below), who is a sixth-generation member of the Bacardi family, absorbed Europe into his LAC oversight just over three years ago.
Taking the reins for Europe will be Vijay Subramaniam, the current regional president for Asia, Middle East & Africa (AMEA) and Global Travel Retail (GTR). Subramaniam (below) has been with the brand owner since late 2013, when he joined as MD for India & South-East Asia before assuming his current role, based out of Dubai, in 2018.
Replacing Subramanian as AMEA & GTR president will be Vinay Golikeri (below), who coincidentally holds the role Subramanian joined Bacardi to assume – India & South-East Asia MD.
All changes will take effect at the start of October, with the three executives sitting with North America regional president Tony Latham on Bacardi’s global leadership team.
“We’re proud to appoint exceptional talent from within our organisation into these critical roles,” said CEO Mahesh Madhavan. “They have built their careers with us – progressing from market-level roles to some of the most senior positions in the company – which speaks to … the strength of our talent pipeline.”
Also on the leadership team are Dave Ingram and Nicole Zokowski, both of whom took their places when they were promoted to become the chief people & business transformation officer and the chief supply chain officer, respectively, in September last year.
