American producer & brand owner WhistlePig Whiskey has confirmed the departure of its CEO only eight months after he started in the role.
Charles Gibb, whose appointment in June brought an end to a five-month search for a new lead, has left the Vermont-based business by mutual consent, a WhistlePig spokesperson confirmed to Global Drinks Intel today (2 February). The decision was reached “after thoughtful discussions” between the board and Gibb (below), the spokesperson added.
In the initial announcement of Gibb’s appointment last year, WhistlePig noted his tenures at Bacardi, Diageo and Moët Hennessy earlier in his career as being representative of “a career defined by strategic brand-building, innovation and international market development”.
“We sincerely thank Charles for his contributions and service to WhistlePig during his tenure and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” the spokesperson said.
Replacing Gibb is CFO Alex Roberts (above), who has been with WhistlePig since late 2017. Roberts’ background has been in investment banking, having previously worked for Rothschild & Co.
Late last year, the company opened The WhistlePig Vault, its first permanent visitors’ site in Kentucky.
