The marketing lead at Stock Spirits Group has left the company, Global Drinks Intel understands.

Nicolas Mazuranic has stepped away from the group this week after just over two years as CMO. Details on the reasons behind the move were not immediately available, although Global Drinks Intel has contacted Stock for confirmation.

Mazuranic (below) started in the role in January 2023 having concluded a six-and-a-half-year stint with Bacardi at the end of 2022. During his time at Bacardi, he was the marketing director for France, Italy and Greece before spending the final two years as brand director for the group’s whiskies and RTDs covering Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Mazuranic was part of Stock during a highly-acquisitive time; June 2023 saw the Clan Campbell blended scotch brand move across from Pernod Ricard to the company, followed a matter of days later by Sierra tequila owner Borco. Then, earlier this month, Stock bought control of its route-to-market in the UK through the purchase of distributor The Drinks Company.

Speaking to Global Drinks Intel at the same time as the UK transaction, CEO Jean-Christophe Coutures explained why the company was focusing its efforts in Europe. “All of the global spirits companies believe in global brands,” he said, “but they have a very strong focus on North America and Asia, and they believe in premiumisation. This approach has driven their success through the years.

“If we compete in the same place with the same business model, we will never succeed.”

‘Our model – local brands, mainstream player, owned route-to-market – is unique in Europe’ – Stock Spirits CEO Jean-Christophe Coutures speaks to Global Drinks Intel
