Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Corona Cero non-alcoholic beer brand has been named ‘global beer sponsor’ of the World Surf League.
The four-year partnership, financial details of which were not disclosed, builds on a pre-existing eight-year tie-up with Cero’s alcoholic counterpart, Corona. The move marks the “first-ever global partnership with a no-alcohol beer brand”, according to the brand owner.
Corona Cero will begin its sponsorship with the MEO Rip Curl Pro in Portugal on 15 March.
Corona global VP Clarissa Pantoja said: “This partnership between the WSL and Corona Cero is a unique opportunity that provides more choices for athletes and fans at events, while also allowing the brand to enhance moments of relaxation and enjoyment for everyone involved.”
Last month, AB InBev secured an extension to Corona Cero’s sponsorship of the Olympic Games to 2032. The brand will add to its ‘global beer sponsor’ status for the games in Paris last year through to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane in 2032.
