Moët Hennessy has signed a “strategic research and development partnership” with glass manufacturer Verallia to work on “new glass solutions”.
A joint ‘program’, the length of which was not disclosed, will look at increasing efficiency across “the entire value chain”, Moët Hennessy said in a statement this week. The pair will work on “resource efficiency, circularity and performance”.
Moët Hennessy said “reducing bottle weight and improving the energy mix” were “at the heart of” the group’s decarbonisation strategy. “By joining forces, Moët Hennessy and Verallia aim to develop a new generation of glass packaging combining maximum weight reduction with strength,” it added.
“Having demonstrated that it was possible to design higher-performance glass solutions, we now intend to accelerate their development and widespread adoption,” said Moët Hennessy executive committee member Frédéric Dufour.
“This is the essence of our partnership with Verallia: combining our expertise to pave the way for a new generation of bottles, more resource-efficient, more innovative and capable of supporting the long-term industrial transformation of our sector, as well as the customer experience.”
Global Drinks Intel has requested further information on the joint project and which brands will be involved.
