Berry Bros & Rudd has named Symington Family Estates co-CEO Rob Symington as MD of its UK operations.

Based in London, Symington (below) will join the fine wine and spirits merchant in September and he will report to CEO Emma Fox. In the newly created role, he will be responsible for sales, customer strategy and marketing.

The fresh hire worked at Portugal-based port and wine business Symington Family Estates for eight years, most recently as co-CEO alongside Charles Symington. Rob was in charge of the commercial area along with wine tourism, people & culture and sustainability. He will remain on Symington Family Estates’ board.

The move follows the recent appointment of Jamie Ritchie as the MD of international & auctions in anticipation of its US rollout later this year.

Back in 2023, Symington Family Estates and Berry Bros acquired UK-based Hambledon Vineyard for around GBP22.3m (US$27.5m), claiming at the time that the business was “the first commercial English vineyard of the modern era”.
