Rémy Cointreau has commenced a margarita-themed activation for its namesake orange liqueur brand in the US.
Returning for a second year, ‘The Cointreau Lime of Credit’ kicks off this week in the country and will run until 5 May, the date of the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration. As was the case 12 months ago, this year’s iteration offers LDA consumers the chance to win payments up to a value of US$500 through applications online.
The winners will be announced on 6 May with the hope they will spend the money on margarita serves featuring Cointreau. Details of the total amount of money committed to the activation were not disclosed, although “thousands” of winners are expected.
“Cinco de Mayo and margaritas go hand in hand, and as the essential ingredient in The Original Margarita, Cointreau is committed to ensuring every Margarita is made the MargaRight way,” said Rémy Cointreau Americas’ president, Nicolas Beckers. “With the return of ‘The Cointreau Lime of Credit’, we are not only highlighting Cointreau’s role in America’s number one cocktail, but also giving thousands of consumers the chance to elevate their Cinco de Mayo celebrations and beyond.”
Cointreau worked the margarita angle almost two years ago with a campaign fronted by actor Aubrey Plaza.
