Trinchero Family Estates has reviewed its distribution footprint in the US, lining up a raft of new partners from the start of next month.
The California-based wine group, which also operates in spirits following the acquisition of the Tres Agaves tequila and mixers brand three years ago, has made the following changes, which take effect from 1 July:
- Breakthru Beverage Group – Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia [selected regions]
- Columbia – Oregon and Washington
- Johnson Brothers – Indiana, Nebraska and South Dakota
- Republic National Distributing Co – Alaska, Louisiana, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia [selected regions] and Washington DC, and
- Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits – Arizona, California, Hawaii and the control states of Mississippi, Utah and Wyoming
Johnson Brothers will retain Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina [selected regions], North Dakota and West Virginia. Elsewhere, Southern Glazer’s will continue as TFE’s distributor in Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio [selected regions] and South Carolina.
“This transition comes after a rigorous evaluation of TFE’s national structure and each market over the last few months, led by a cross-functional team of leaders at the organisation,” the company said this week.
The switches are not the biggest distribution story out of the US’s beverage alcohol operators this year: In early January, Sazerac Co plumped for beer specialists in almost 30 states, taking what one industry observer described to Global Drinks Intel at the time as “a third way”.
