US wine giant E&J Gallo Winery has made another purchase, this time for canned wine and spritzer business Bev.
The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, sees the six-year-old start-up and its eight-strong range join Gallo’s ranks alongside last month’s acquisition, Fishers Island Lemonade. Founder Alix Peabody, who hails from Venice in California, will “continue her involvement” following completion of the deal.
Gallo has been Bev’s US distributor for the last two years and linked the move to its aim of “evolving to remain relevant to the next generation of alcohol beverage consumers”.
The new member’s line comprises Bev Blanc, Brite, Glam, Glitz, Glow, Grist, Noir and Rosé, all of which carry an SRP of US$15.99-$17.99 per four-pack of 25cl cans.
Late last year, E&J Gallo Winery acquired Denner Vineyards in the Paso Robles region of California.
