California’s Delicato Family Wines has added to its Relax portfolio in the US, this time with an “alcohol-removed” Chardonnay varietal.
Relax Zero debuts this month with the Chardonnay, available across the country at an SRP of US$11.99. The wine’s alcohol has been removed by distilling the liquid in a vacuum “that preserves its … flavours” and brings the ABV down to 0.5%.
Citing figures from Circana from the year to 5 November, Delicato said the non-alcoholic wine category in the US posted a year-on-year value jump of 46%.
“Given the brand’s popularity and consumer loyalty, as well as the exploding demand for non-alcoholic Chardonnay, we think that a premium NA Chardonnay makes a compelling extension of the Relax brand,” said group marketing director Brett Johnson. “{Non-alcoholic beverage buyers} are, by and large, looking for trusted brands. Relax is a well-known and highly trusted brand that sells more than a quarter million cases of wine in the US each year.”
Just over a year ago, Delicato added 12 more states to its US distribution arrangement with Republic National Distributing Co.
