California’s Delicato Family Wines has almost doubled the size of its distribution partnership in the US with Republic National Distributing Co.
The consolidation, announced earlier this month, sees 12 markets in the country added to the initial arrangement between the two for 12 states and the District of Columbia. Among the markets added to the footprint are California, Florida, Illinois and New York.
Details of which company has been handling Delicato’s distribution previously in the additional states were not disclosed.
Family-owned Delicato, which is on the fourth generation of the founding family, is the US market leader in “premium, 3-litre box wine”, according to RNDC, through the Bota Box brand. Scope remains for the tie-up to grow further, given RNDC covers 38 states as well as DC across the country.
Last year, Delicato acquired Francis Ford Coppola Winery, also based in California, in exchange for an ownership stake for the company’s namesake founder.
