Craig Garvin is moving on from the McGuigan brand owner “having repositioned and stabilised the company following a difficult 2024”.

Australian Vintage has promoted its chief commercial officer to the helm as Craig Garvin steps down after his latest six-month stint.

Tom Dusseldorp (below) is set to take the wheel after three years at the wine company, commencing as CEO tomorrow (30 April). Prior to joining Australian Vintage, Dusseldorp spent six years with Pernod Ricard, including a period as a marketing manager in Sydney.

The McGuigan brand owner said that Garvin is moving on “having repositioned and stabilised the company following a difficult 2024”. He rejoined Australian Vintage last October after being released by the business five months beforehand after having been alleged to engage “in conduct that… displayed a lack of judgement”.

“The board appreciates the transformational leadership that Craig has brought to Australian Vintage over many years,” said group chair James Williamson. “We are fortunate to have an exceptional leadership team at Australian Vintage, and it’s very pleasing to have Tom step up as our chief executive.

“Tom joined us in 2022 with strong leadership credentials. His commercial expertise and experience within the business mean he is ideally placed to succeed Craig and provide continuity in our strategy focused on cash flow and targeted growth.”

In February, Australian Vintage booked a mid-single-digit decline in sales from its latest half year ahead of the launch of a new brand, Poco Vino.
