‘The brand was named after the original name for Austin – Waterloo – before the city was rechristened in the 1830s for Texas pioneer Stephen F. Austin.’

US-sourced Waterloo Gin has unveiled a new appearance, seven months after coming under new ownership.

The brand, which was acquired by Patrón tequila co-founder John Paul Dejoria in September, is rolling out the updated bottle for its flagship Waterloo No 9 expression to its US markets from this week. Coinciding with the update is news of expansion plans beyond its current presence in Florida and Texas through new agreements with five additional wholesalers in the country.

Breakthru Beverage Group, Empire Distributors, Johnson Brothers Distributors, Kentucky Eagle and Republic National Distributing Co have been lined up to take on the gin, which is named after the original name of its home city of Austin in Texas.

The revision features images of grapefruit, lavender and pecan, which feature in Waterloo’s botanical mix, as well as the introduction of a cork stopper.

“Now, with our detailed new redesign, our package truly matches the quality, sophistication and craftsmanship of the liquid inside the bottle, while honouring the legacy and proud history of our origin in the Texas Hill Country,” said company CEO Justin Meigs.
