Tito’s Handmade Vodka finally has a stablemate, the brand’s first since launching in 1997.
The vodka, which is produced and bottled by Fifth Generation, has spent an undisclosed sum on majority control of Lalo Tequila. The transaction has been framed by Fifth Generation as “a different type of spirits partnership – … structured to allow both companies to stay focused on what they do best”.
Lalo was co-founded in 2019 by Jalisco natives Eduardo ‘Lalo’ González and David ‘R’ Carballido along with colleague Jim McDermott, with the brand’s blanco expression debuting in the US a year later. Priced at US$49.99 for a 75cl bottle, Fifth Generation claims the mark is “one of the fastest-growing tequila brands in the US”.
“The newly formed relationship with Lalo will provide the tequila brand with strategic sales support and access to an expanded distribution network to accelerate its scale from a local name to one with global reach,” Fifth Generation said. “‘Lalo’ González will continue to steward the brand’s production, carrying on his family’s legacy and the tequila’s integrity for generations to come.”
Last week, Lalo released this year’s bottling of its High Proof Blanco iteration.
