Described by the group as a “vignette”, the spot will front Roku’s ‘Come Alive with the Seasons’ campaign, which was announced late last week. Details about the activities lined up for the marketing push were scant, although the ad has debuted on the website for SGS’s Japanese spirits unit, House of Suntory.
Coppola, best known for directing Academy Award-winning Lost in Translation, worked with Fanning 14 years ago on the film Somewhere, as well as on The Beguiled in 2017.
Speaking exclusively to Global Drinks Intel earlier this year, SGS CEO Greg Hughes flagged gin as a “priority category” for the company. “Among our portfolio priorities are Japanese spirits,” Hughes said. “As well as our Japanese whisky portfolio, we’re also seeing very strong growth from Roku … and from Haku, our House of Suntory vodka.
“We’re bullish on our ability to deliver a differentiated gin with Roku.”
Elsewhere in gin, the group also owns London-based Sipsmith, which it acquired in 2016, as well as the Larios brand.
