A shift of personnel in Rémy Cointreau’s global travel retail unit has resulted in the appointment of a Diageo executive in Asia Pacific.
Starting today, David Dang (below) will be the group’s next MD for the region’s GTR operations. Dang joins the Rémy Martin brand owner after just over two years with Diageo, where he was the South-East Asia regional director in the latter’s luxury division.
When contacted by Global Drinks Intel, a company spokesperson confirmed the position has been newly-created.
The news comes two months after Thibault Robert was confirmed as the new GTR MD for Europe, the Middle East, Africa & the Americas. Both Dang and Robert will report in to unit CEO Fida Bou Chabke.
As well as Diageo, Dang also spent part of his career at Moët Hennessy, primarily on the champagne side before switching to the fragrance brands unit of parent company LVMH.
“As a strategic business leader with excellent general management, people, marketing, operational and commercial skills, David will lead the strategic vision, performance and market presence of Rémy Cointreau’s brand portfolio within the Asian global travel retail sector,” the group said.
In results for the three months to the end of June, reported in late July, Rémy Cointreau saw its sales slump by almost 16% on the corresponding period a year earlier.
