Loch Lomond Group has redrawn its permanent portfolio, folding one of the existing expressions of its namesake single malt scotch whisky brand into a newly-created line of bottlings.

The Original Series comprises three non-age-statemented Highland single malts, one of which, The Original: Triple Oak, is already available. Joining the whisky, which has been aged in a combination of first-fill, re-fill and re-char American oak, are Loch Lomond Oloroso: Sherry Cask and Peated: Rioja Cask.

As their names suggest, the pair of new additions have both been finished for six months in previously-used casks.

While Triple Oak carries an SRP in the UK of GBP28 (US$37.50) per 70cl bottle, Oloroso and Peated are positioned at GBP31, again per 70cl bottle. All three are available online now for domestic delivery in the UK, with the former already on sale through retail multiples. The latter pair will roll out in the country’s off-premise channel throughout this year.

“The release of The Original Series demonstrates our continued growth in non-age-statement flavour profiles, bringing three stand-out expressions to retail that showcase our … commitment to first-class distillation and maturation,” said Loch Lomond’s master blender, Michael Henry.

“As well as our unrivalled capabilities in flavour creation through our Straight Neck Stills, at Loch Lomond we also have the benefit of our on-site cooperage, which allows us to … make sure each cask is the right quality for maturing our single malt whisky.”

Just under a year ago, the group headed across the Atlantic to acquire American whiskey and gin producer The New York Distilling Co.
