Actor Johnny Depp has assumed alcohol brand owner status, launching a “super-premium” rum from the Dominican Republic.
Three Hearts, which has gone on sale to consumers in the US this week, consists of a seven-year-old rum produced by an unspecified distiller in the country. The liquid has been matured for five years in ex-bourbon barrels “with a touch of oloroso influence”, prior to a further two years in ex-cognac.
Three Hearts First Edition can be purchased online for US$69.99 per 70cl bottle for shipment to all bar seven US states.
“Future expressions are planned to highlight the distinctive styles and cultural heritage of rum-making regions across the Caribbean”, said the brand owner company of the same name, founded by Depp in partnership with friend Bobby DeLeon.
Earlier this month, Bacardi linked up with Bad Bunny producer Tainy for the latest music-led activation to promote its namesake rum brand.
