UK-based Hayman Distillers is strengthening the focus on its Merser rum brand and has commenced works to open a “rum house” in its home city.
The site – which will be based near the company’s distillery in south-west London – will house the barrels of Merser’s blends. It will also include an experience for visitors, allowing them to taste different styles and blend their own rum.
Hayman, which also makes its flagship namesake gin brand as well as Respirited vodka, said that construction of the site is set to begin “shortly”, with further details to be provided later this year.
The family-owned company’s rum portfolio includes Merser Signature, Reserve and the recently launched White iteration, which contains a blend of unaged rums from Barbados, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, bottled at 40% ABV.
In February, co-owner James Hayman told Global Drinks Intel that the company exports around 85% of its produce, with the main markets outside of the UK being the US, Australia and New Zealand.
