Constellation Brands has sold its Copper & Kings American brandy label to Kentucky-based Bourdon Spirits Co.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the companies confirmed that production will continue at Copper & Kings’ Louisville distillery. Bourdon Spirits added that expansion plans include enhancing the visitor experience and growing national distribution.
Constellation acquired the brand in full in 2020, following an earlier minority investment via its Constellation Ventures arm in 2018.
Founded in 2014 by Joe and Lesley Heron, Copper & Kings produces a range of spirits, including brandy-based gins and liqueurs, using unconventional techniques such as sonic ageing and solera blending.
In June, Constellation Brands finalised the offload of its “mainstream” wine brands to California-based The Wine Group.
In its Q1 results released last month, the combined wine and spirits operations saw sales slump 21% as the unit continues to decrease in size.
