Cachaça maker Abelha has secured an exclusive UK distribution agreement with Speciality Brands.
Speciality Brands said it is looking to “grow and build availability” of the organic brand in the market. Two iterations will be added to the distributor’s roster: Silver and Gold, across both on- and off-trade channels.
Abelha Cachaça Silver has an ABV of 39% and will go on sale with an SRP of GBP29.50 (US$39.77) per 75cl bottle. The 39%-ABV Gold iteration has an SRP of £36.50.
Abelha’s master distiller and co-founder, Marcos Vaccaro, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Speciality Brands as we enter a new phase of growth in the UK. Their expertise in building premium spirits brands and their deep understanding of the on- and off-trade make them the perfect partner to help drive awareness and distribution for Abelha.
“We look forward to working with them to elevate the cachaça category and showcase its versatility to UK bartenders and consumers alike.”
Abelha was founded in 2008 by Anthony Goh, Herbert Rugel and Hal Stockley in partnership with Vaccaro. It is produced on the Vaccaro family’s organic farm in Rio de Contas, Bahia.
Last year, Speciality Brands added London-headquartered sake craft brewer Kanpai to its distribution roster in the UK. The deal marked Speciality Brands’ first foray into sake.
