American-whiskey producer MGP Ingredients has announced its first move into consumer-facing brands with the launch of MGP Distillery.

The inaugural release under the new brand, MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, is a limited-edition 10–year–old straight bourbon whiskey made at the company’s largest facility in Indiana. The SKU will debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival this weekend and then be rolled out “in limited quantities nationwide this fall” carrying an SRP of US$69.99 per 75cl bottle.

The site, in Lawrenceburg, was renamed Ross & Squibb Distillery in 2021 but will now revert to MGP Distillery. The plant also produces Luxco brands such as Remus and Penelope.

“The MGP name has built incredible equity over generations because of the quality of the products we make and the people behind them,” said MGP Ingredients CEO Julie Francis. “We’ve been making whiskey and spirits that others have proudly put their names on for decades.

“Bringing the MGP name back to the distillery and launching MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows is an exciting opportunity to share that story directly with consumers.”

In April, Kansas-headquartered MGP Ingredients said it would be pausing production for at least a year at its two Kentucky sites, Limestone Branch Distillery and Lux Row Distillers. Production at the company’s facility in Lawrenceburg (where MGP Chapter One is being produced) was unaffected.
