Kimo Sabe Mezcal owner Kimo has unveiled a limited NFT run of the brand’s Añejo expression.

The inaugural bottling in the ‘Kimo Sabe Mezcal Sacred Heritage Collection’ comprises a total of 1,888 units, all of which are available in non-fungible token [NFT] format. Priced at US$3,000, the token can be exchanged for the physical bottle in May.

Kimo Sabe 6 Year Grand Reserve Añejo has been matured in American white oak casks.

Up to $1m from sales of the line will “fund assistance to the Huichol people of northern Mexico, who are “the last nomadic tribe in the Americas”, according to California- and Mexico-based Kimo. As well as Kimo Sabe, the company also owns the Luminar, Tres Hermanas and Sabe mezcal brands.

The largest mezcal brand in the US is Del Maguey, according to its owner, Pernod Ricard. In recent years, the category has been benefiting from the surge in consumer interest in Tequila in the country.
