Taiwan’s Kavalan Distillery is the latest brand owner to turn to SipWell Brands for global travel retail support, with its namesake single malt heading to the channel in the UK.
SipWell, which is a distribution and sales & marketing agency based in the UK, has been selected to “lead Kavalan’s strategic development across the UK travel retail channel”, the brand owner said today (27 April). The priority focus will be on the country’s major international airports.
Details of whether the appointment is a change of partner or a channel debut were not immediately available.
“The UK remains one of the world’s most influential whisky markets, and travel retail provides an important platform to connect with international travellers,” said the chair of Kavalan parent King Car Group, YT Lee. “Partnering with SipWell Brands allows us to strengthen Kavalan’s presence in key travel hubs while sharing our distinctive Taiwanese single malt with a wider global audience.
We look forward to working closely together to build long-term brand awareness and meaningful consumer engagement.”
Among the brand owners to engage Sipwell in recent months are Seychelles-based rum producer Takamaka and scotch whisky business Lochlea Distillery.
Six weeks ago, Kavalan appointed Marussia Beverages to take on its whisky portfolio in the UK’s domestic on- and off-premise channels.
Correction: In the initial version of this news article, we reported that Penrhos Spirits works with Sipwell in the GTR channel. Penrhos, which owns the namesake UK gin brand, has been represented in the channel by Rupert Furbank since March. We apologise for any confusion caused.
