Ian Macleod Distillers is poised to enter the global travel retail channel in the Americas, agreeing a distribution tie-up for the region with Distribution Spirits Co.
The Glengoyne, Rosebank and Tamdhu single malt and Edinburgh Gin brand owner is strengthening its GTR presence, which is currently limited to Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific. Through the arrangement, DSC has been charged with prioritising the US, “in particular key airport hubs and cruise ships”.
Miami-based DISC was founded by Juan Gentile, who previously spent almost 20 years working for Scotch peer Edrington. Gentile left the company at the start of 2021, having risen to become MD of Americas Travel Retail for the Macallan brand owner.
Ian Macleod claims that its King Robert II Scotch is “the number one value whisky in global travel retail”. The company has been owned and led by the Russell family since its establishment in 1933.
