North American alcohol distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has recruited externally for the role of chief information officer.
Steve Bronson (below) started in the position late last month, moving across from McDonald’s, where he spent the last three-and-a-half years as senior VP of global technology infrastructure & operations. The appointment marks a return to beverage alcohol for Bronson, who was director of data & BI, corp functions & global supply chain technology at AB InBev in New York from 2010 to 2012.
Reporting in to Southern Glazer’s chief growth & strategy officer, David Chaplin, Bronson will be tasked with “overseeing enterprise technology strategy and execution [and] working closely with Southern Glazer’s digital acceleration team to ensure the company’s technology roadmap supports its long-term digital transformation and growth objectives”.
Details of who he is replacing were not immediately available.
Almost two months ago, Southern Glazer’s US peer, Republic National Distributing Co, caused a land-grab of sorts in California by announcing its outright withdrawal from the state. Consequently, Southern Glazer’s secured extensions to its US agreements with Edrington and Rémy Cointreau to include the western market.
