US-based Dulce Vida is switching the packaging for the RTD extension of its namesake Tequila brand to cartons.

The three-strong line, comprising Margarita, Paloma and Watermelon Margarita variants, will roll out to the US in 1-litre Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Square packs. The cartons, which are recyclable, are made “primarily” from paperboard, according to the Texas-based company.

All three premixes were previously available in 75cl and 1.75-litre bottles.

The range, which sits alongside Dulce Vida blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo expressions as well as three fruit-flavoured iterations, carries an ABV of 15%.

The US is by far the largest RTD market, accounting for almost 44% of the category’s global volumes in 2021, according to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis. In second place was Japan with just under 21% market share. Meanwhile, a survey by Drizly earlier this month suggested a rise in consumer interest for non-alcoholic RTDs among Generation Z and Millennial drinkers.
