‘We were pleased to deliver on our financial commitments in 2025 while maintaining market share in a challenging operating environment.’

The Boston Beer Co Quarterly Sales Q1 2022-Q4 2025
SHARE
  • Sales in closing three months of 2025 decline by 4.1% to US$385.7m
  • For the full year of 2025, sales down 2.4% at $1.96bn

The final quarter of last year colluded with the three months prior to pull The Boston Beer Co into the red in 2025, according to results released this week.

Having posted an 11.2% crash in sales from the three months to the end of September, the Samuel Adams beer and Truly RTD owner said yesterday (24 February) that its top line in Q4 was down by just over 4%. As a result, the rises reported in the first two quarters were undone, resulting in a -2.4% sales performance across the full 12-month period.

While decreasing volumes were blamed for the Q4 sales fall, the performance would have been worse had it not been for what Boston Beer said was the impact of “increased pricing and favourable product mix”. Weak volumes were recorded by Samuel Adams and Truly, as well as the Twisted Tea RTD brand, although the Sun Cruiser, Angry Orchard and Dogfish Head marks delivered unspecified rises.

Founder & CEO Jim Koch professed to being ” pleased to deliver on our financial commitments in 2025 while maintaining market share in a challenging operating environment”.

He added: “Looking ahead, we are highly focused on operational excellence, including investing in our portfolio of iconic brands, developing a strong innovation pipeline and continuing to execute on our multi-year productivity initiatives.”

The company boasted of holding $223.4m in cash and being debt-free as of the end of last year.

Earlier this month, CMO Lesya Lysyj confirmed her intention to leave the company. COO Phil Hodges will temporarily oversee the marketing team from early next month, with marketing functions reporting into his office while Boston Beer “evaluates permanent leadership options”.
