Republic National Distributing Co has named Marc Sachs as its permanent CEO following a near-ten-month search.
Sachs (below) has been serving as the US distribution major’s interim CEO since 17 October, following the death of the group’s previous temporary head, Robert Hendrickson. Sachs’ appointment, effective immediately, sees him become the first permanent CEO since Nick Mehall, who left the business in March.
Sachs has spent two decades with RNDC, with roles spanning sales, supplier development and strategic initiatives. Prior to his time as interim CEO, he was VP of supplier business development and is currently on the company’s board of directors.
Sachs began his career in advertising for consumer brands before entering the beverage alcohol industry in 2005 with Block Distributing.
“Following a comprehensive and thoughtful search process, we are thrilled to name Marc as CEO & president of RNDC,” said board member Richard Davis. “His decades of experience, strategic insight and strong connection to the RNDC family make him uniquely positioned to guide the company forward.”
In September, RNDC withdrew its operations from California, prompting a raft of alcohol brand owners to switch their distributors.
