Guala Closures has agreed a deal to purchase Kenyan beverage closures business Metal Crowns Group for an undisclosed fee.
The acquisition of the Nairobi-headquartered manufacturer of crown corks and plastic closures, which was confirmed today (10 October), sees Guala increase its presence further in East Africa, where it has operated since 2017. Guala will also enter the plastic closures market for non-alcoholic beverages through the transaction.
Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Nairobi, Metal Crowns Group supplies packaging to global beer and soft drink producers across East Africa. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in the region and for the 12 months to the end of July, booked sales of around EUR32m (US$37.1m).
Metal Crowns executive director Gurdipsingh Parmar will remain in his position, Guala noted, with the transaction expected to complete during the first quarter of next year.
