Mixer start-up Double Dutch has been awarded B Corp status by non-profit B Lab, making the company “the only major mixer brand” to be certified to date.

The namesake brand owner, which has a portfolio of mixers standing at 13 variants, announced the news late last week. The assessment by B Lab took 18 months to complete, with the London-based business scoring 86.9 points, ahead of B Corp’s “current median score” of 50.9.

Among the sustainability activities that supported Double Dutch’s application was the offsetting of CO2 through tree plantings – the company is carbon neutral – and upping the rate of recycled glass in its bottles from 16% in 2021 to 20%.

“There are now over 120 drinks brands that have achieved B Corp certification in the UK, and we’re really pleased to be joining this community of global businesses meeting high standards of social and environmental impact,” said co-founders – and twin sisters – Raissa and Joyce de Haas. “This is also brilliant for the hospitality sector as it signposts hospitality brands & venues to the suppliers that are doing business well.

“We hope that together with the other beverage brands that have been awarded this prestigious status, we can help the industry to make easy and sustainable choices… .”

Global Drinks Intel’s ESG Awards return for a second round this year. Submissions for entry open this Monday [18 March], with full details available here.
