‘This new structure reflects Campari Group’s commitment to strengthening its GTR business [and] nurturing internal talent.’

Campari Group has announced a new leadership structure for its global travel retail (GTR) team, with two internal appointments confirmed this week.

Group MD for the ‘Asia Pacific’ region, Satya Sharma (below), has had his role expanded to encompass GTR, the Aperol brand owner confirmed, with immediate effect. Sharma joined the company in February from Australia’s Lark Distilling Co, where he was succeeded by Stuart Gregor, the co-founder of Four Pillars Gin.

“A seasoned leader with extensive experience within the spirits industry, Satya brings deep commercial, marketing and strategy expertise, and a strong understanding of GTR dynamics,” the company said.

Also effective immediately is the promotion of the head of GTR for Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Charles Roullet, to become MD of the global unit.

Roullet (below) has been with the group for ten years, joining in 2016 as marketing director for GTR. He will report in to Sharma and replaces Marco Cavagnera, who left to take up the post of group GM at Italian sparkling-wine producer Ferrari Trento in March.

“My focus will be on continuing to elevate our execution, strengthening our partnerships, and bringing our brands to life in ways that truly connect with travellers,” Roullet said.

“This new structure reflects Campari Group’s commitment to strengthening its GTR business, nurturing and promoting internal talent, and ensuring the channel continues to play a critical role in showcasing its portfolio to a global audience,” the company added.

Earlier this week, Campari Group booked a 2.9% lift in sales from the three months to the end of March. Of its four reporting regions, ‘Asia Pacific & Global Travel Retail’ was the only one to be in the red, with sales declining by 1.6%.
