‘The demand environment remains challenging, and we are prioritizing actions within our control to strengthen our business and improve market share trends.’

The Boston Beer Co has booked a very slight improvement in its quarterly performance, with the latest three-month period delivering the lowest rate of decline in the calendar year to date.

  • Sales in three months to end of September decline 3.2% to US$520.1m
  • For 2026 so far, top line down 3.6% at $1.52bn, following H1’s 3.8% fall

The Boston Beer Co has booked a very slight improvement in its quarterly performance, with the latest three-month period delivering the lowest rate of decline in the calendar year to date.

The 3.2% dip in sales from the three months to the end of September combined with the 3.8% slide in the first six months of 2026 to set the year-to-date at -3.6%. Shipment volumes in the nine months registered a year-on-year decline of 5.4% for the Samuel Adams beer and Truly RTD owner.

In commentary on the most recent quarter, Boston Beer credited vodka/iced tea RTD Sun Cruiser and hard cider Angry Orchard with posting positive growth in volume terms. Offsetting the pair, however, were the Samuel Adams and Truly flagships, as well as malt-based RTD Twisted Tea, all of which were down.

“The demand environment remains challenging, and we are prioritising actions within our control to strengthen our business and improve market share trends,” said founder & CEO Jim Koch. “We are encouraged by the strong performance of Sun Cruiser and remain focused on marketplace execution, while our continued emphasis on … strong cash generation provides a solid foundation to invest behind our brands and drive long-term value.”

Boston Beer highlighted that given the seasonality of its business, the fourth quarter of the calendar year is traditionally “a lower volume quarter”.

The company has been juggling its C-suite recently, commencing the search in August for a new CFO after Diego Reynoso handed in his notice, and appointing Allison Stransky, formerly of Samsung Electronics America, as its next CMO, three weeks later.
