Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has acquired “substantially all” of the assets held by Colorado’s Eagle Rock Distributing Co, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, expected to close “in the summer”, will see the US alcohol distribution giant take control of Eagle Rock’s Colorado operations, which includes Anheuser-Busch’s full product portfolio in the state. Upon closing, Southern Glazer’s said it would continue operating out of the company’s existing facilities.

“The beverage marketplace continues to evolve, and expanding our total beverage capabilities remains a key priority,” said Southern Glazer’s commercial sales president, Mark Chaplin. “Eagle Rock’s portfolio and strong presence in Colorado are a natural fit with our strategy and enhance our ability to serve customers and suppliers.”

The move follows Southern Glazer’s purchase last week of Clare Rose, a Long Island distributor which, like Eagle Rock, handles Anheuser-Busch’s – the US division of AB InBev – stable of brands. Last year, the Florida-headquartered group also reached an agreement to purchase AB InBev’s owned distribution business in New York City.
