Ridgeview Estate Winery has appointed administrators as of late September, according to a notice published on the UK sparkling wine producer’s website.
Philip Harris and Neville Side of FRP Advisory have been named as joint administrators of the winery, which is based in the southern English county of Sussex. The Ridgeview statement confirmed that “the affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the administrators, who act as agents of the company without personal liability.”
No further details have been provided about the reasons for the administration move or about the future of the business. Ridgeview has been contacted for comment.
In the twelve months of 2023, the company’s fixed assets were valued at around GBP10.7m (US$14m) and current assets at GBP10.3m, with total equity amounting to GBP2.3m, according to a Companies House filing.
Founded in 1995 near Ditchling, the wine producer offers a range of English sparkling wines, primarily made from the traditional champagne blend of pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay grapes.
In September, one of Ridgeview’s domestic peers, Nyetimber, agreed a “long-term” partnership with England Rugby, becoming the sport’s first English sparkling wine sponsor.
