The fast-growing flavoured American whiskey has added two more markets to its expanding overseas footprint.

Peanut butter-flavoured Skrewball whiskey has entered the Australian and New Zealand markets in partnership with Pernod Ricard’s Pacific division.

The 35%-ABV brand is available across all major off-premise operators in the countries, priced in Australia at an SRP of AUD65 (US$42.50) for a 75cl bottle. Outside the US, Skrewball is also sold in the Caribbean and Canada.

“It’s no surprise ‘black sheep’ feel right at home in both Australia and New Zealand, with their vibrant cultures and zest for life,” said co-founders Steven Yeng and Brittany Yeng, referring to the brand’s black sheep logo.

“Now we can offer them a drink that embodies that same spirit of adventure and individuality. Seeing our … bottles on shelves and bars here is a dream come true, and we’re excited for Aussies and Kiwis to experience Skrewball in their own unique way.”

Pernod Ricard became a partner in the brand as a majority stakeholder last year. Skewball was created by Cambodian refugee Steven Yeng and his wife Brittany, a lawyer and chemist. A peanut butter fan, Yeng developed a popular peanut butter whiskey cocktail at his bar and was encouraged by his wife to bottle and launch it as a brand.

In a Global Drinks Intel interview conducted in March last year, Steven Yeng revealed the brand had depleted over 2m nine-litre cases since its launch in 2019.
