The super-premium English gin brand claims that its new bottle is lighter than its main competitors.

Brockmans Gin will introduce a new lightweight bottle in all markets in September this year, claiming it will be the lightest among the bestselling gin brands in the super-premium segment.

Brockmans maintains the new bottle will further the brand’s sustainability goals by decreasing CO2 emissions through the use of less energy and materials during the production process and less weight during route-to-market transportation. The brand’s namesake owner claims that in independent tests, its new glass 500g bottle weighs on average 30% less than Brockmans’ seven direct competitors.

Produced by French firm Verallia, the world’s third largest glass packaging producer for the beverage industry, the pack contains 51% post-consumer recycled glass, versus only 0.6% in the brand’s existing bottle. Brockmans believes the new bottle will set a benchmark in the industry and cement the company’s sustainability credentials after the company achieved B Corp Certification late last year.

MD Jean-Dominique Andreu said: “Our new bottle represents a significant step in our journey towards sustainability. We are proud to lead the industry with this innovative, lightweight packaging and we are committed to continuing our efforts to create a more sustainable future.”

In May, the independent company bolstered its executive team by recruiting former Anheuser-Busch InBev and Whyte & Mackay employee Maxine Hoy to the newly-created position of commercial director.
