Moët Hennessy has started to roll out an updated version of The Original, Glenmorangie’s entry-level iteration, that is two years older than its predecessor.
The decision to retire the ten-year-old version in favour of a 12-year-old, which takes effect from this week, has followed what the brand owner has described as “a series of experiments with The Original”. Applying worldwide, a spokesperson told Global Drinks Intel today that the revised single malt will increase in price in the UK from GBP39 (US$50) to GBP40.
Kicking off on Glenmorangie’s website, the switch heads to the UK next month ahead of the rollout to all of the brand’s markets.
Earlier this year, Moët Hennessy booked a 12% fall in sales from the three months to the end of March as the group flagged “soft local demand” in China in the run-up to the country’s New Year holidays. Results for the second quarter of 2024 are expected on 23 July.
