A new agreement between Camus Holdings and Flor de Caña sees the pair’s existing distribution arrangement flow the other way, this time in the US.

Importation responsibilities for Camus’ namesake cognac brand will switch in the US to Flor de Caña’s Luxury Spirits International division. The latest development builds on the existing tie-ups in China and France where Camus handles distribution for the Nicaragua-based company’s namesake rum brand.

Details about Camus’ previous US importer were not immediately available.

“The brands are a natural fit to be in a portfolio together due to their high-end nature and shared family values,” said Luxury Spirits International president Marc Hirten. “We have great confidence that Camus cognac will thrive in the months and years to come.”

Flor de Caña is owned by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua.

Late last year, Camus Holdings joined the domestic whisky goldrush in China, unveiling plans to invest around US$30m in a distillery in the country’s Anhui province.
