Zamora Co has lined up its entry into the tequila category, with its US division partnering with American footballer Dak Prescott for the soon-to-be-launched Volteo brand.
The privately owned group, which handles distribution responsibilities for Dialce’s Buen Amigo tequila brand, has confirmed that Volteo will be released in the US “later this year”. Comprising a blanco, a reposado and a cristalino expression, the line is produced by Destileria Casa De Piedra in Mexico’s Jalisco region.
While claiming the brand, which takes its name from the Spanish for ‘turn around’, will be “one of the only luxury tequilas on the market that is organic and additive-free”, Zamora declined to provide details about SRPs nor did the company include images of the bottles.
“Dak Prescott … has a sharp mind for business and marketing, and he doesn’t invest in a project unless he completely and truly believes in it,” said Zamora Co USA CEO Matt Appleby. “I know I also speak for Dak in saying that we’re incredibly proud … to soon introduce this exceptional tequila to people across the country.”
Prescott, a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys, also played a part in the development of the liquid and packaging.
Appleby, who joined Zamora in the US five years ago, has previously worked for Brown-Forman, Pernod Ricard and Rémy Cointreau. He moved up to become CEO of the Licor 43 owner’s US operations in late 2022.
