The owner of the Jägermeister liqueur brand has confirmed a switch in its senior leadership team as Berndt Kodden prepares to leave Netherlands-based food giant FrieslandCampina.

Kodden, who has been with FrieslandCampina for 24 years, will move up from his current post on Mast-Jägermeister’s supervisory board to sit on its executive board, with responsibility for the ‘international’ operations. The move, which takes effect at the start of November, sees Denis Schrey make way after 12 years of working alongside CEO Michael Volke and Christopher Ratsch at the top table.

Kodden, who rose to the position of chief sustainability officer at FrieslandCampina in November last year, will work with the remaining board members to take “responsibility for overseeing the operational business in approximately 150 countries”, the company said.

Schrey, who will leave at the end of April next year, “intends to concentrate on his tasks in various supervisory and advisory boards”, the company said.

“For over a decade, Denis Schrey played a pivotal role in … driving the dynamic international expansion of our business,” said supervisory board chair Florian Rehm. “We thank him very much for his … valuable strategic and operational contributions … .

“In Berndt Kodden, we are gaining a top manager with international experience who knows the company well thanks to his work on the supervisory board … ,” Rehm added.

Earlier this year, the privately-owned company, which also owns a stake in the Termana Tequila brand, signed a “multi-year” distribution extension with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in the US.
