Here’s a round-up of the new launches from spirits brand owners in the week commencing 25 September.

Mackmyra Svensk Whisky’s Mackmyra Swedish single malt whisky

  • Whisky, single malt, Sweden. No age statement, 48.7% ABV
  • On sale from 3 October, specific availability not disclosed
  • SRP of EUR64.99 [US$68.50] per 70cl bottle
The latest expression from craft distiller Macmyra brings together ‘Svensk Ek’ – Swedish oak cask – and ‘Svensk Rök’ – a “smokey recipe” that uses locally-grown peat and juniper

Moët Hennessy’s Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo single malt

  • Scotch whisky, single malt, Highland, no age statement. A combination of Glenmorangie aged for an unspecified period in Mizunara oak casks with Glenmorangie matured in ex-Bourbon and -Sherry casks, 46% ABV
  • Debuting as an exclusive to off-premise retailer Selfridges in the UK next week until 15 October, then available more widely through off=premise spirits specialists and online
  • In the UK, SRP of GBP76 [US$92] per 70cl bottle. Limited edition, quantities not disclosed

Grain & Barrel Spirits’ Chicken Cock Red Stave Bourbon

  • American whiskey, Kentucky Straight Bourbon, finished in ex-Petite Sirah wine barrels, 51.2% ABV
  • On sale from this week in the US off-premise channel as well as online through the brand’s official website and via Caskers and Flaviar
  • SRP of US$199.99 per 75cl bottle. On sale in limited quantities
The limited-edition Chicken Cock extension contains Bourbon that has been finished for an unspecified period in barrels from Miller Family Wine Co’s J. Wilkes winery in California’s Paso Robles region

Gran Maizal Mexican whisky

  • Whisky, Mexico, Yucatan. Corn-based, no age statement, finished for an unspecified period in “porous terracotta vessels”
  • On sale since this month online to “most” US states
  • SRP of US$57 per 75cl bottle
Produced at Yucatan’s Destileria La Vibora, Gran Maizal has been co-founded by Gonzalo de la Pezuela, who previously worked for Distill Ventures and Bacardi

Nemiroff’s Lex by Nemiroff

  • Vodka, 40% ABV
  • Debuts next week at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes as a global travel retail-exclusive
  • SRP of EUR80 [US$85] per 1-litre bottle
The Lex bottle, which has cues that originate from a perfume bottle, “can be repurposed and used as a decanter”, according to Nemiroff

Brown-Forman’s Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt Whiskey

  • American whiskey, single malt, Tennessee. No age statement, matured in new American oak barrels then finished for an unspecified period in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. ABV of 45%
  • Available in the global travel retail channel worldwide from this week
  • SRP of US$99.99 per 1-litre bottle
Launched as a limited edition last year, the single malt extension of Jack Daniel’s hits global travel retail this month

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet’s Cutty Sark Centenary Edition blended Scotch

  • Scotch whisky, blended, comprises whiskies that have been aged for 23 years, 52.2% ABV
  • Unveiled this week ahead of roll-out to off-premise spirits specialists in “core markets” including Greece, Japan, Portugal, Spain, the US and the global travel retail channel
  • SRP of US$1,000 per 70cl bottle. Limited to 1,435 numbered units
The centenary celebrations for Cutty Sark continue with the release this week of a 1923/2023-inspired blend

Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky’s Port Ellen 1983 single malt

  • Scotch whisky, single malt, Islands, 40 years old, 52.4% ABV [cask strength]
  • Release this week online through BlockBar and The Spirits Embassy
  • SRP of GBP5,700 [US$7,300] per unit, limited to 209 bottles

The whisky from one of the last casks filled at Port Ellen distillery is on sale this week. The expression was aged at the distillery on Islay before being moved to Duncan Taylor’s headquarters in Aberdeenshire 13 years ago

Pernod Ricard’s Olmeca Altos Tequila-based RTDs

  • Tequila-based RTDs, premix Margarita in lime and watermelon flavours, 5% ABV
  • Available in Australia and New Zealand from this week
  • In Australia, SRP of AUD24 [US$15.40] per four-pack, AUD27 per six-pack of 33cl cans
Following the debut RTD extension of the Olmeca Altos Tequila brand last year, these two Margarita-themed flavours are only 5% ABV

Pernod Ricard’s Jefferson’s Tropics Aged in Humidity Bourbon

  • American whiskey, Kentucky Straight Bourbon shipped to Singapore for an 18-month finish, 52% ABV
  • Released this month in the US on- and off-premise channels in limited quantities [720 barrels made the journey]
  • SRP of US$99.99 per 75cl bottle
The “fully-matured” Bourbon left the US in 2019 to travel by ship to Singapore, then returned to Kentucky in March this year

International Beverage Holdings’ Balblair 21 Year Old single malt

  • Scotch whisky, single malt, Highland, 21 years old. Aged for 15 years in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels and then finished for six years in ex-Oloroso oak butts. 46% ABV
  • Debuting in the UK at the end of this month, initially online through The Whisky Exchange ahead of a wider roll-out to other off-premise spirits specialists in the country, as well as to other markets in Asia, Europe and North America, in the coming months
  • In the UK, SRP of GBP300 [US$367] per 70cl bottle
Balblair has unveiled the oldest age-statemented expression in its permanent portfolio, although the 21-year-old will be available in limited quantities
