Bacardi has kicked off its sponsorship of Oracle Red Bull Racing, becoming the Formula One team’s ‘official global spirits partner’.
The arrangement, led by the group’s Patrón Tequila brand, debuted at last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, where the ‘Patrón Pit Stop’ hosted a performance by US singer Becky G. While specific details about the wider tie-up were not disclosed, Bacardi linked its namesake rum along with Grey Goose vodka and gin brand Bombay Sapphire to the partnership.
The Patrón sponsorship was announced this week on the brand’s Instagram page with a clip featuring Oracle Red Bull’s Mexican driver, Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez, and team principal Christian Horner.
“This partnership celebrates two iconic leading brands coming together to create a simply perfect collaboration for the most passionate F1 fans,” said Patrón’s president & global CMO, Kathy Parker. “This is one of the most exciting times in the history of motorsport; expanding our presence in the world of F1 was a natural next step for us and we’re thrilled to be doing it with the No. 1 team on the circuit.”
Oracle Red Bull finished first and second at the Miami Grand Prix, with Perez coming in five seconds behind Max Verstappen. The pair are also in the same positions in the driver standings for the 2023 season so far.
