Viña Concha y Toro has made its first foray into Europe’s wine production arena, buying a majority stake in southern France’s Maison Mirabeau.
The group’s unit for the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and Nordic markets, VCT Europe, has spent an undisclosed sum on an unspecified size holding in the Provence-rosé producer and namesake brand owner. Mirabeau’s husband-and-wife co-founders, Stephen and Jeany Cronk, will both remain with the business – Stephen as CEO and Jeany in the roles of brand representative & creative advisor.
The Casillero del Diablo brand owner said it plans to “use the VCT footprint” to expand Mirabeau into new export markets, adding that it intends to “respect all existing distribution agreements” for the brand.
“Maison Mirabeau is much more than an investment for Viña Concha y Toro,” said group CEO Eduardo Guilisasti. “It is a concrete expression of our conviction in the future of wine and in premiumisation as a path to sustainable growth.”
As well as its main operations in Chile, dominated by the Casillero del Diablo brand, Concha also owns Trivento in Argentina and the Bonterra Organic Estates winery in California. Five years ago, the Casillero portfolio was augmented by a tempranillo from Spain.
Late last year, Concha reported another quarter of rising sales, as the three months to the end of September came in up by just over 8%. Building on a 2.3% lift in sales from the first half of 2025, the company’s year-to-date sits at +4.3%.
Full-year figures are scheduled to be announced on 16 March.
