Trinchero Family Estates-backed Joel Gott Wines has entered the ready-to-drink (RTD) category with canned-spritz range called Sauvy B.
The new-to-market brand consists of sauvignon blanc mixed with sparkling water, fruit flavour and electrolytes. The line comprises two SKUs, Grapefruit and Lime, both with an ABV of 4.5%.
From this month, Sauvy B will be on sale in US retail multiples including Target, Total Wine & More and Walmart as well as online “in select markets”, with an SRP of US$13.99 per four-pack. The Napa Valley-based company plans to expand national distribution between now and January.
As Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau regulations restrict describing the electrolyte-infused range as being either ‘hydrating’ or ‘healthy’, the brand owner is marketing Sauvy B as a “lighter, more refreshing low-calorie alternative to traditional wine and many ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages”.
Namesake owner Joel Gott said: “We saw an opportunity to bring together everything people are looking for right now: great flavour, convenience and a fresh take on Sauvignon Blanc.
Founder-owned Joel Gott Wines signed a joint venture with Trinchero Family Estates in 2009, handing the latter responsibility for global sales, marketing and distribution.
Earlier this month, sparkling wine giant Henkell Freixenet released details of two additions to its I Heart portfolio, with a brace of canned and carbonated SKUs debuting in Ireland.
