Family-owned Champagne Louis Roederer has made its first acquisition in Burgundy with the purchase of Domaine Pierre Damoy.

The deal – which was completed on Friday (24 July) – includes “nearly” eight hectares of grand cru vineyards, most of which sit within the appellations of Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and Chapelle Chambertin, in the Côte de Nuits subregion. Champagne Louis Roederer has also acquired the ‘monopole’ Clos Tamisot vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin.

Global Drinks Intel has requested further information and financial details of the deal.

Domaine Pierre Damoy is to be housed under the champagne company’s ‘Roederer Collection’, which includes 12 wine brands from France, Portugal and the US. Roederer Collection also includes three distribution subsidiaries and a wine négociant.

“In the year Louis Roederer celebrates its 250th anniversary, establishing a presence in Burgundy, one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions, and becoming the steward of one of its great estates carries a special meaning for us,” said Louis Roederer CEO Frédéric Rouzaud.

“… Our mission now is to accompany this estate with humility and exacting standards, building on the remarkable work carried out by the Damoy family and preserving everything that makes it truly unique.”

Last week, the champagne industry announced it had lowered the volume of grapes that can be sold from the upcoming 2026 vintage by 2% compared to last year. Trade body Comité Champagne said the “collective decision aims to gradually rebalance stock, while preserving the economic viability of the vineyards and maintaining quality standards”.
