Accolade Wines has lined up a sizable increase in its US presence, signing up with Republic National Distributing Co in the country.

The distribution arrangement, framed as a “national strategic alignment”, will see Accolade’s brands on the shelves of 24 further states as well as the District of Columbia. Among the extra states are California, Florida, Illinois and New York.

Details on whether Accolade was present previously in RNDC’s markets and, if so, which company handled distribution were not disclosed.

Accolade currently operates in 130 countries with a portfolio that includes Echo Falls, Hardys and J-Shed. According to the privately-owned firm, which was acquired by private equity giant The Carlyle Group in 2018 for AUD1bn [then-US$769.7m], the RNDC agreement represents one of the “key pillars in the company’s overall plan to become a top wine supplier in the US”.

Last month, the group lined up the divestment of ‘The Park’, its 30m-case-per-year bottling and warehousing site in the west of England.
