Zamora Co has taken on the importation and distribution duties in several European markets for Panama rum brand Ron Abuelo.
The arrangement, with owner Varela Hermanos, sees the nine-strong portfolio launch in the Iberian countries and territories – Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar – as well as in the region’s global travel retail channel. Zamora commenced its side of the “long-term” partnership at the start of this month.
The flagship iterations comprise Añejo, 7 Años, 12 Años and Centuria, all of which are produced in the town of Pesé and matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Earlier this year, Zamora, which is privately owned, posted a 20% year-on-year leap in 12-month sales from 2022. The Iberian Peninsula accounted for just under half of total sales for the Licor 43 liqueur brand owner.
