Spanish wine and spirits group Zamora Co is toasting a record year in 2022, with full-year revenues rising 20% to hit a new high of EUR265m [US$294m].

The family-owned business, which is not obliged to release its results to the media, highlighted “organic growth in all markets and distribution channels”, with flagship brand Licor 43 leading the charge with 33% revenue growth on the year.

Meanwhile, the Cartagena-based company’s Ramón Bilbao wine franchise saw sales rise by 10%. Fellow wine brand Mar de Frades posted revenue growth of 18%, and sales for Martin Miller’s gin and Villa Massa limoncello increased by 17% and 16% respectively.

Iberia accounted for 48% of Zamora Co’s sales in 2022, with European & Emerging Markets taking a 26% share, followed by the Americas as a whole (15%) and the US (11%). The company’s revenues are split 64% to spirits and 36% to wine, it said.

“Despite the uncertain environment we continued to experience last year, our balance sheet is very positive for several reasons,” said Zamora Co CEO Javier Pijoan [pictured above]. “Firstly, 75% of our turnover comes from the on-trade business, and the end of the Covid restrictions benefited us. The good results can also be explained by the fact that we are a company with a very clear and aligned agenda.”

In June this year, Zamora Co announced the appointment of former Rémy Cointreau, Brown-Forman and Pernod Ricard executive Matt Appleby as divisional CEO of Zamora Co USA, replacing Bill Corbett.
