Suntory Global Spirits has appointed Robbie Millar to the newly-created role of interim chief global brands officer with immediate effect.
Millar leaves his former Scotland-based position as the company’s president of global whiskies & prestige. Reporting in to CEO Greg Hughes, Millar (below) will be responsible for driving demand for the company’s brands to help achieve its goal of “becoming the world’s most admired premium spirits company”.
Details of how long Millar is expected to be in-post were not disclosed, while a company spokesperson confirmed to Global Drinks Intel that the position differs from the president of brands roles vacated by Jessica Spence at the start of last year. Spence moved across to become North America president but left the Maker’s Mark brand owner in April.
“Creating a chief global brands officer role will benefit our business by having one leader dedicated to advancing the positioning of our brands in our key regions and priority categories,” said Hughes. “Robbie has been integral to advancing our premiumisation agenda, and I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish under his leadership.”
Millar has been with Suntory Global Spirits since June 2022, working on building up the company’s higher-end Scotch business. Having spent around 35 years in the beverage alcohol industry, Millar previously served as the VP of global marketing at Carlsberg.
In other recent Suntory Global Spirits news, the company opened a dedicated unit to grow its presence in the fast-growing Indian market in June this year.
